Pieris Forest Flame
April 2007 - Pieris Forest Flame
Upright evergreen shrub requiring an acidic peaty soil.
PLANT OF THE MONTH: APRIL 2007
Pieris

Pieris are fantastic, provided you can provide an acid soil. A classic red form is Pieris Forest Flame. You get vibrant red / salmon-coloured new foliage in the Spring and lovely lily of the valley of flowers in large drooping panicles. It's also evergreen so you've got the foliage interest in the winter as well. This is definitely one of the best varieties, requiring a moist, well drained acid soil and shade from morning sun.

The fiery red young foliage of the Pieris is perfect for brightening a shrub border or woodland edge. This gorgeous upright spring flowering shrub is ideal as a container plant if your soil is not acid/peaty!

This is an exceptional, ornamental evergreen shrub providing sensory interest, delicate mix of foliage colours and beautiful scented flowers.
